Planning Your Trip

trip

The Conejos County area is known for brief winter conditions in early to late spring. May this year we had snow fall in the higher elevations. For a few weeks in April we had temperatures in the 70's. So with this in mind be prepared.

Packing in...

Bring your long john's and always dress in layers. Mornings can be cold enough for frost, below 30 degrees and warm up into the 80's.

Bug spray is a must.

Gas up. Gas stations are few and far between

Make room for your trash. This is pack it in pack it out. The Forestry Service provides some trash depots. But, most camping areas do not provide trash bins.

If you're coming in with Recreational Vehicles always check with the National Forestry Service for current updates on rules and regulations.

Make sure you have all your Licenses for your planned activities Fox Creek Store sells most licenses call if you're not sure of what you need.
